What You’ll Do 🏗️

  • Build from Scratch: Set up cloud infrastructure including VPCs, IAM, security, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Pulumi. Define backend architecture, networking standards, and cost-efficient cloud strategies.
  • Scalable Server Development: Develop scalable server-side applications using TypeScript (Node.js) and the Next.js framework.
  • Integrate at Scale: Ingest large and diverse data streams (REST, XML, EDI APIs) with robust, schema-flexible pipelines. Create resilient and idempotent data loaders capable of evolving with external sources.
  • ETL/ELT Ownership: Deploy and manage orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect. Build and maintain dbt pipelines, implement automated testing, CI/CD workflows, and manage version-controlled data repositories.
  • Power Search & AI: Manage ElasticSearch/OpenSearch clusters and vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate. Enable AI integrations using embeddings, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and frameworks including LangChain or LlamaIndex.

Requirements ✅ You Might Be a Fit If You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and scaling ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Proven experience building backend systems and cloud architectures from the ground up.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, SQL, and Next.js.
  • Strong cloud architecture skills, preferably AWS, with hands-on expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Experience with orchestration platforms including Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
  • Expertise in data warehousing solutions like Snowflake or BigQuery.
  • Experience managing search engines (Elasticsearch/OpenSearch) and vector stores (Pinecone, Weaviate).
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI fundamentals, including embeddings, feature stores, and model operations.
  • Passion for clean code, observability, data quality, and security best practices.
  • Strong collaboration, problem-solving skills, and a mindset geared towards building scalable, reliable systems.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Experience working in early-stage startups or high-growth environments is a plus, demonstrating agility and ownership in ambiguous settings. Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex is highly valued. Prior exposure to working with global distributed teams and remote collaboration tools will help you integrate quickly. Knowledge of additional cloud providers like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Azure would be advantageous but not mandatory.
