Description and required skills

Objectives

Lead our Technology team, actively participating in the definition of the goals and objectives of the area and ensuring its execution according to the business timing. Look after the organic growth of the team, going ahead of the needs of the company and properly defining the roles within it. Lead the recruitment processes for the Tech team, and refine the product development culture inside the company, ensuring the effective implementation of code standards and best practices to increase productivity.

Lead the development process of our products, minimizing their go-to-market times and supporting the MVP definition processes. From your experience and theoretical knowledge, support in the design of the architecture of the products, the needed cloud architecture to ensure their scalability, and the tests to assure the quality of the software.

Ensure that the products can scale and continuously evolve, improving their UX and maximizing their value-generating potential in order to increase the recurring customer base. Permanently seek the maximization of uptime time of the different applications.

Actively participate in the strategic definitions of the company, providing the vision of the Technology team, understanding the needs of the market and having clarity of the current context of the company. Efficiently manage available resources, looking to minimize operational costs and maximizing the performance of the team.

Tasks

1. Technology team leadership

  • Define roles, duties and organizing teams and sub-teams to satisfy the company’s needs.
  • Define the growth plan for the Technology team and lead the recruitment processes.
  • Ensure that each team member gets the necessary training and guidance.
  • Maximize team productivity and performance, keep high motivation on each team member.
  • Guide the teamwork and provide continuous feedback to each team member.
  • Lead the implementation of team performance supporting methodologies (Scrum, DevOps)
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Select the area’s most critical KPIs.
  • Manage the risk and technical debt, according to the company’s strategy.

2. Product architecture, development and operation

  • Lead and guide the team on the definition and implementation of product software architecture.
  • Define the tech stack on which the products will be built.
  • Lead and guide the team on tech infrastructure design and configuration.
  • Ensure product and infrastructure scalability.
  • Promote MVP as a methodology for new products and functionalities.
  • Lead and guiding the team on DevOps practices design and implementation.
  • Continuously ensure that the company’s systems are secured.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and reducing downtime.

3. Strategy

  • Take part in the company’s strategic planning.
  • Continuously analyze competition to suggest tech innovations to ensure competitive advantages.
  • Make sure that the team is always aware of the latest trends in the related industries and identifying potential competitive advantages.
  • Monitor the Tech area’s budget and ensuring efficient resource use.

Studies, experience and needed knowledge

Professional degree on Engineering, with specialization on Computer Science or IT.

Proven experience on:

  • At least 5 years working as a software engineer in agile and quick-evolving environments.
  • Leadership of technical teams in a high performing environment.
  • Strategic planning of tech products.
  • Infrastructure operation and CI/CD implementation.
  • Microservices architecture.

Communication:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

Technology:

  • Knowledge of some of the following: .NET Core, React.js, Python, MongoDB, MySQL.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Interpersonal abilities:

  • Highly organized, motivated and proactive, interested in learning continuously.
  • Leading work relations with clients and suppliers, doing so in a comfortable and natural way.
  • Planning and estimation abilities to provide reasonable deadlines.

Outstanding skills

Specific knowledge:

  • Passenger transportation, ideally urban public transportation.
  • Advanced level in Docker, Rancher and Kubernetes usage.
  • Database management.
  • UI and UX design.
  • Experience on IoT hardware and software solutions (GPS, telemetry, custom Raspberry PI implementations, etc.)
  • Managing georeferenced data and its interaction with maps.
  • Data Science and information visualization.
